About the Trainee Scheme
As a Trainee Technical Co-ordinator, you’ll:
- Support the Technical Team in managing projects from land acquisition to site completion
- Gain experience across the full development process, including Health, Safety & Environment, Land, Planning & Community Engagement, Pre-Development & Design Coordination, and Development Management
Hands-on experience includes:
- Identifying and managing design risks in line with CDM requirements
- Ensuring environmental and ecological considerations are embedded in design
- Implementing and complying with CDM and EMS regulations
- Supporting the preparation and submission of planning applications
- Assisting in managing community engagement and consultations
- Helping clear planning conditions and supporting planning negotiations
- Attending and contributing to key project meetings
- Coordinating design tenders and supporting design programme management
- Assisting in securing Building Regulations approval and compiling supplier documentation
- Liaising with the Engineering team to ensure approvals are met
- Staying up to date with product and regulation changes
- Supporting production teams and managing design changes on site
- Monitoring construction progress and helping resolve design issues.
The Programme:
The Trainee Programme is a structured development pathway lasting between two and four years, depending on your entry level and progression. It combines on-the-job experience with formal training to build the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to step into the Assistant Technical Coordinator role.
Throughout the programme, you will:
- Complete a two-year professional skills course at our dedicated Training Hub in Solihull.
- Follow a structured development plan with clear milestones for salary progression.
- Take part in regular reviews with your line manager to track progress and identify growth opportunities.
- Gain exposure to other departments across Taylor Wimpey.
- Join the Early Talent community as a programme ambassador, representing Taylor Wimpey at careers fairs and school events.
- Have the opportunity to apply for the Kings Trust Million Makers programme.
Job requirements
- 2:1 degree in a Civil Engineering or Architecture
- A Full UK Driving License or an ability to get to remote site locations independently.
- Willingness to travel between sites and around your business unit area.
- You must have a Full Right to Work in the UK.
