About the Trainee Scheme
As a Graduate Strategic Land and Planning professional, you’ll:
- Gain in-depth knowledge of strategic land operations and planning processes
- Learn how to search for and procure new land opportunities
- Develop a wider understanding of house building and the business framework
- Rotate across various departments to build a broad understanding of the business
You’ll gain hands-on experience in:
- Land studies and initial land risk assessments
- Heads of Term, negotiations and agreements
- Legal instructions
- Portfolio management
- Applications and appeals
- Section 106/75 and planning negotiations
- Estate management
The Programme:
The Trainee Programme is a structured two-year development pathway, combining on-the-job experience with formal training to build the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to step into the Strategic Land and Planning role.
Throughout the programme, you will:
- Complete a two year professional skills course at our dedicated Training Hub in Solihull.
- Follow a structured development plan with clear milestones for salary progression.
- Take part in regular reviews with your line manager to track progress and identify growth opportunities.
- Gain exposure to other departments across Taylor Wimpey.
- Join the Early Talent community as a programme ambassador, representing Taylor Wimpey at careers fairs and school events.
- Have the opportunity to apply for the Kings Trust Million Makers programme
Job requirements
- 2:1 degree or above in a RICS or RTPI accredited course in planning or surveying
- A Full UK Driving License or an ability to get to remote site locations independently.
- Willingness to travel between sites and around your business unit area.
- You must have a Full Right to Work in the UK.
- Willingness to move to a Business Unit within the Division for up to 6 months
- Ability to find innovative and creative solutions to solve problems
- Willingness to challenge the norm
