About this job
Job description
Why Hiscox?
At Hiscox, we believe in empowering early careers talent to make a real impact from day one. As a Development Underwriter, you’ll play an active role in projects that matter, develop your skills through hands-on experience, and shape your own career path in a supportive and inclusive environment. You will also have one rotation in another European office to gain international exposure, broaden your technical knowledge, and work closely with senior leaders.
As part of our Graduate Programme, you’ll take on a Development Underwriter position with two exciting dimensions:
1. Underwriting Excellence with Structured Training
You’ll work alongside our experienced Underwriting and Distribution Teams, in a market which is fast paced and very dynamic, to write new business and manage renewals across the full Hiscox product suite – from Professional Indemnity (Traditional and Emerging), Cyber, Commercial Property, Medical Malpractice, Employer’s Liability and others. Through formal training modules, mentoring, and on-the-job learning, you’ll develop deep expertise in risk analysis, pricing, and broker engagement.
2. Strategic review
Beyond underwriting, you’ll lead a project to analyse our underwriting practices, review broker relationships, and identify ways to enhance our service offering. This is your chance to influence real change and gain exposure to senior leadership early in your career.
If you’re ready to learn, grow, and make an impact in a fast-paced market, this is a great opportunity.
What You'll Do
- Make an Impact: Contribute to meaningful projects that support our business goals and help our teams deliver value to customers, colleagues, and communities.

- Collaborate: Build relationships with key brokers and colleagues, learning from a diverse range of perspectives and developing your professional network.
- Develop Skills: Access structured learning, on-the-job training, and resources such as LinkedIn Learning to support your personal and professional growth.
- Be Supported: Receive guidance from your team, the Early Careers team, and a dedicated mentor to help you succeed.

- Open to feedback and willing to share your ideas.
